Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (Windows Defender ATP) is a security service that enables enterprise customers to detect, investigate, and respond to advanced threats on their networks.
As a UX designer in a very user focused group, part of my role is to understand our users’ needs and their daily scenarios, in order to design solutions that address those in the best way possible.
Windows Defender ATP is designed for two primary user roles: the security operator (secop) and the security admin.
My tasks include ongoing communication with partners and customers to validate each feature’s requirements before, during and after its implementation by presenting prototypes and collecting feedback. Each validation provides input for another iteration of refined requirements and prototypes. Once a prototype which covers the scenario is created, I provide a UI spec to the developers and work closely with them to reach the best implementation.
To receive an unbiased feedback, after each release, we plan and conduct usability tests on a group of participants that match our users description. Based on the findings, we identify weak spots and file them as usability issues, which we address in the following release.
Windows Defender ATP became globally available in March 2016
